Yaounde, October 27, 2026 – Cameroon's electricity sector has a new player. Meta Energy SARL officially launched its activities this Tuesday, October 27, at the Hilton Hotel in Yaounde, Bouma Hall, under the slogan "The future lights up here".
The event, broadcast live on Digital B TV, gathered investors and sector stakeholders around a business model presented as disruptive: not selling solar panels, but selling energy.
Driven by the Meta Invest SA Group under the leadership of Lisette Claudia TAME NJAMBE, the company aims to address a daily reality. At 7 p.m. in a Yaounde neighborhood, a power cut interrupts homework, shops and workshops.
Its model is based on an alliance sealed the day before, on October 26, 2026, at the High Commission of Canada in Cameroon, with Eclipse Renewable Energies.
Under this agreement, the Canadian partner will provide equipment supply, installation and preventive and corrective maintenance throughout the contract period. The warranties announced are 30 years on panels and 5 to 10 years on other equipment depending on their nature.
This positioning comes in a quantified context: the national electricity access rate is estimated at 67% in 2024, with 92% in urban areas versus 28% in rural areas. For companies in Yaounde and Douala, the cost of one kWh produced by a generator is estimated between 250 and 400 FCFA, compared to 50 to 99 FCFA on the public grid.
For its start-up phase, Meta Energy is targeting households, businesses, industries and institutions in Yaounde and Douala, with a free study on request and payment in installments.
The stated ambition: to become the first pan-African operator of solar energy accessible to all, by producing continuous and quality electricity as close as possible to users.
